Scaling Success 2025 - Key Growth Levers

A strong argument can be made that the key to scaling success lies not in one or two key areas each year, but rather in the ability to identify all of your growth levers and to consistently pull down on all of these levers (ranging from a little to a lot).

Equally, common strategic practice has always suggested that businesses should identify a new innovation each year that will transform their business. Yet we are all bombarded with so many digital innovations, many of which promise instant reward, that it is hard to exert strategic focus and control. What’s more, these innovations are no longer solely the purvey of our tech/digital departments, but rather they live across our entire organisation and people.

In this edition, we simply share one insight and two key pieces of advice on the lever across most Boardroom tables – AI.

When our colleague Chris Batsford attended a People Growth Summit on AI last month (Amplify AI) the key research insight was startling - 6 months ago when they asked about who was using AI within their job every week, the result was circa only 20%; today it was more like 80%. The rate of adoption is startling.

We believe the primary key advice for leaders in business is to firstly get comfortable in using AI yourself, perhaps by starting with personal projects outside of work to build confidence in using the tools. At the same time, encourage inventiveness from all your people, enabling an environment where teams can play around with AI tools, recognising that no one person has the right answers, so the more your team engage and invent with the tools, the sooner you will find something that works and you can then roll out strategically.

The second key piece of advice is the recognition that AI = Transformation Change. Rather than solely being led by your tech/digital leadership, change management will also be required. Your people leadership have as strong a role to play as your CTO and they must work in partnership - it is both a People and a Technological opportunity. Businesses must invest in people leadership in equal measure to digital innovation.
